Chapter 77

Northern Virginia Chapter 77 was chartered in 1974 by several members of Washington, D.C. , Chapter 8. Since that time, Chapter 77 has become highly effective in focusing on the educational and professional needs of property managers in the Northern Virginia area. Through the early years, membership grew steadily and by 1984, the Chapter included 48 members. Today, total membership is nearly 350. This growth reflects the dedication of those who have served on the Chapter's Executive Council and the leadership of its current and past presidents. Many of these past presidents have remained supportive and active in IREM affairs at both the Chapter and the National levels.

Chapter 77 conducts monthly general membership meetings for nine months out of the year. These meetings afford all members opportunities to network with their peers from throughout the area, as well participate in professional development. Chapter 77 sponsors both national courses and local courses and seminars that meet designation educational requirements without the burden and cost of lodging and travel.

Three Chapter CPM® members are members of the IREM faculty. The Chapter also supports an Accredited Residential Manager® (ARM®) Committee--a program dedicated to the professional development and certification of multi-family managers. The Chapter is organized into specialized committees including its very active Community Action Committee.

As property managers, Chapter 77's members have long believed that they not only manage assets within communities, but also must contribute their quality of life. Over the years, the Chapter's members have been active in many local charities such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Reston Interfaith to cite two that have received support for many years. Chapter 77 is committed to excellence in the profession, active participation in the communities where we do business and promoting cooperative relationships with other local IREM Chapters and similar real estate organizations.
