Incoming President's Message

by Kasara Williams, CPM®

It was an honor to have been inducted as your 2019 chapter president. Our annual awards dinner in November is always my favorite event since it brings us together before the holiday rush. It also allows us to look back on what we have accomplished and energize us for what’s ahead. It was especially exciting to share the new IREM student outreach video. More importantly, we also recognized our outstanding volunteers. Our success is a direct reflection of the time and energy our volunteers willingly give. Congratulations to our award winners!
As we look ahead to 2019, we will review the chapter’s strategic plan and ensure it aligns with our priorities. This will be our core as we set the rest of our goals for 2019 which will include launching the REstart program as well as starting a mentorship program and redoubling our diversity efforts.

Enjoy the rest of the year and have a great holiday season with family and friends!

Congratulations to our incoming President, Kasara Williams!  Over the years of working with Kasara on different IREM projects, I have learned that if you give her a task, you can consider it done!  I look forward to the chapter’s continued success under her leadership.

IYP & Community Action

By Jatonne Trianna

On Tuesday, October 17, the Community Action and IYP Committees teamed up to give back to the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation in Alexandria, VA. The Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation helps homeless pets find their way to loving homes through rescue and adoption. The foundation has saved the lives of more than 28,000 homeless pets, most of whom were facing the treat of euthanasia at over-crowded municipal shelters.

Volunteers are the backbone of the shelter which recently got a new intake of dogs. IREM members helped by walking dogs that were new to the shelter and took notes of behavior or any medical conditions they observed. IREM members also assisted in preparing bags and tickets for their upcoming Paws Vegas event. After walking several of our furry friends, we took the party to the Lost Dog & Cat Café for an IYP happy hour. There we networked with other chapter members and affiliates. Thank you to all who participated in our event!

MEGA Meeting

by Maj-Lene Keech, CPM®, ARM®

"Leading From Any Seat: Stories from the Cockpit & Lessons from the Grit Project"

Our annual regional Mega Meeting with Chapters 77, 8, & 92 was another successful event! It was a motivating afternoon with author Shannon Huffman Polson sharing stories of courage and leadership to help our audience find ways to overcome fear, break through uncertainty, and reach their full potential. We were taken on a journey to a place where we could find our innate grit to go back to our teams leading and succeeding with passion and purpose.

Afterward we shared our own stories from the cockpit at the networking reception with industry partners and colleagues! Thank you to our Industry Partners, Allied Universal, Brightview, LUX, USSI, and Clean & Polish.
